The pandemic, and the extra time we inherited due to shutdowns and stay at home orders, resulted in a renewed focus on self-care. For me, that included getting back to reading (something I loved, but hadn’t made a priority in prior years) and discovering the value of podcasts. More often than not, my mornings started with a podcast and a chapter from a good book.
I’m thrilled to report that, despite the fact that we’re outside, these two good habits have endured. My only new year resolution for 2022 was to read at least 12 books. I ended the year at 13. Full list here. This year, I have two resolutions:
- To read more than 13 books (I’m currently on book #12)
- To wear the things I’ve purchased and haven’t worn (I’m a collector lol)
So far, so good! Now back to podcasts! Podcasts make incorporating positive and educational content into your day easy. You can listen on your commute to work or while you’re working out (my go-to time slot) without taking any additional time out of your day.
Here Are My Top 3 Podcasts:
Jay Shetty is a #1 NY Times best selling author. I’ve read both of his books, Think Like a Monk and 8 Rules of Love, and highly recommend you read them too. His podcast is full of insightful interviews with some of the most influential figures of our time. All of the conversations are thought provoking and impactful. This podcast is by far my favorite.
Mel Robbins is a world-renowned motivational speaker and author. I had the pleasure of hearing her speak at Monations 2021 and she is a firecracker! She gives it to you straight – as if you’re learning something new from your best friend. She’s funny, real, and uncensored.
Rob Dial is your guy if you need a quick boost! I don’t think he has a single podcast that’s over 25 minutes. The Mindset Mentor gives you useful takeaways on how to program your mind, improve your relationships, stop procrastinating, and more.
