They used 22 key indicators (including but not limited to market attractiveness, real-estate taxes, affordability, and property crime rate) to compare 300 cities and determine where first-time homebuyers should put their money.
We’ll keep our commentary limited to the top 30 best cities for first-time homebuyers. Drumroll please!

- Cape Coral, FL
- Tampa, FL
- Port St. Lucie, FL
- Orlando, FL
As a realtor who primarily serves Orlando, I am quite proud! Also in the top 30 are Lakeland, FL at #11, Sunrise, FL at #14, and Boca Raton at #17. And, since I’m also a licensed realtor in Georgia, I’ll add that Atlanta, GA made the list at #26.
California leads the pack for the most cities in the bottom 30 (worst places for first-time homebuyers). Are we surprised?
